The Sweetest sound for today

So I had another doctor appointment today to get my weight checked (don't ask!), blood pressure taken (doing good there), more blood drawn (not sure I have any left) and to try and hear the hear beat with the Doppler machine. Last time my doctor couldn't find it and she sent me for a sonogram to check how things were going. So this time I prayed that Ziggy would be a little more flexible and allow us to hear her/his heart beat. Guess what? Prayer worked! Within seconds my doctor found the heartbeat and was able to follow Ziggy while he/she moved. It was a sweet sound. So far everything sounds great and Ziggy has a strong heartbeat. Fast too. Some might say that this is an indication that Ziggy is a "she". We won't find out until late March what we are having. I guess it depends on if Ziggy is in a cooperative mood or not. I'm praying now that he/she is. I am ready to start buying stuff for a nursery!
I appreciate everyone's prayers for Ziggy so far. Please keep them up. This is an exciting time as well as a scary time. For me anyways. I know God has a wonderful plan for this child, I just wish I knew every detail like God does!
Later!

Catch up

I was hoping that with the impending arrival of Ziggy that I would have more to blog about. Not the case. I still go a week without posting. So sorry for those who use this as a way to keep connected with my life!
I have been feeling a little better lately. I had a rough morning yesterday and a scary evening last night. I got really dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out last night. I called the doctor this morning and she said that was a normal thing with pregnancy but if it happened again to come in to get checked out. All I want is a normal pregnancy with no more scares! Ugh! My whole first trimester was like that. Multiple calls to the doctor, ultrasounds, lots of blood drawn, a lot of different medicine to regulate hormones and on and on! I realize there are other women who would love to be pregnant even if it wasn't a perfect "textbook" pregnancy. I am grateful to be pregnant. Grateful, excited and scared. I'm just venting. Please, no one take offense. I just need to get my frustration out!

Ziggy 1, Mom 0

Despite all the advice to eat whatever I could, I wanted to keep trying to eat healthy. (To be honest, I really worry about gaining a lot of weight that will be difficult to lose after baby Ziggy). So with this fear in mind, I trudged on with a healthy food choice. Monday was a hard day. All day. So Tuesday I once again fixed my healthy cereal and fruit and ate on. 1 hour later (after Ziggy pulled an abrupt and messy tantrum) I was happily munching on a breakfast burrito from McDonald's. This morning there wasn't even any consideration other then a burrito. Today for lunch, whatever Ziggy wants. I fold. I'm tired of being sick. Zofran doesn't work for me people. The last two times I have taken it, sick, sick, sick. I thought Zofran was supposed to stop me from being sick! Its worked for my friends, why not me? Ugh! Maybe it is a mental thing. Usually by the time I feel sick all I want to do is throw up to feel better. I know, how backwards is that?

So for those keeping score: Ziggy 1, Mom 0. It's going to be a long pregnancy!

2 steps forward, 1 step babckwards...

So technically that would only be 1 step forward, but oh well. So I had a great weekend with no sickness. I rested, ate often(whatever I wanted) and felt great! This morning I got to work and it went down the toilet, literally. I think Ziggy is rebelling my food changes. During my first trimester my doctor said to eat what I could, so I did. The only thing that worked was McDonald's breakfast burritos, red meat and loaded baked potatoes. So now that I am in my 2nd trimester I wanted to really monitor what I eat and opt for the healthy side. So this morning consisted of a bowl of healthy cereal and no breakfast burrito. Ziggy obviously disagrees with the healthy lifestyle I am attempting to lead and the only way he/she can retaliate is by forcing me to give the healthy choice "back". This is also the reason why Bryan and I have decided to not go to a nice V-day dinner. Why drop a lot of money on a fancy dinner I may only get to rent? Sigh..... this looks like it will be a work in progress.

For those of you who asked about the free 3-d sonogram, here is the information:
Pregnancy Resource Center: 214.343.3328 (on LBJ & Jupiter). All I did was call in and say that I would like to volunteer for the free sonogram and told them how far along I was. Kay Morton is the person you speak with and they put you on a waiting list and will call you back if they need you. It isn't a gaurantee, but everyone I know who has done this has been accepted. Good Luck!

Update

So things have been a little better in the "sick" department at the Johnson household. I still have my moments, but they are getting better, hopefully! I really don't have alot to blog about today or this week for that matter. I guess I could say that Bryan and I are getting a free 3-D sonogram picture in March. That is something to look forward to. One of Bryan's coworkers told us about it and I called and they said they would put my name on the list and call me at my 20th week mark. If you haven't seen a 3-D picture of your baby, it's pretty cool. It gives an accurate picture of the baby's face. We will also use this to determine the baby's sex. I don't think we could make a mistake with a 3-D picture. On a side note, I wonder how often that happens? You were told at week 18 you were having a girl and whoops!, it comes out a boy on game day. Suprise?!?!?! Talk about some money down the drain. I have priced some bedding and it isn't cheap to re-do.
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I'll try and do better!
