New Look

I'm trying out a new look for the blog. I don't know if it will stick, but it is something I like for now. So some posts are in the old font color but going forward it should all look the same!

Long Time Coming

I know it has been awhile since my last post. I can't believe how busy I am. The day is gone before I know it! Between feeding Audrey, sleeping, cleaning bottles, and cleaning Audrey, I barely have time to shower let alone blog! Things are going better in the sleep department. We still have bad nights and right now her nights/days are a little off, but we are trying to fix that. I'm not really sure how though. She is the hardest to wake up during the day! I can keep her awake by not feeding her, but then she wails and wails and I feel bad about that! I get incredibly impatient when I get hungry, so I don't like forcing her to wait a certain time in between meals and I don't have the energy to nurse her every 1 1/2 hours. Any advice from moms out there?
My parents were in town this weekend. They haven't seen Audrey since she was 3 days old. It never bothered me about how far away they live until Audrey was born. Now it makes me a little sad that they won't see her as often as they or I would like for them to. They live about 5 1/2 hours away and that is a long time to drive with an infant plus a hard weekend. Once you get relaxed from the drive up, you have to get back in the car and come home! We'll figure it out though. I wish Southwest flew into Arkansas. Actually it does, just the wrong airport (3 hours away) so it doesn't make it easier to fly in and then have my parents come get us. Ugh! What to do, what to do!
That's all I got for now. Until the next post!

One of those nights....

I have to say that last night was Audrey's worst night ever! I'm not exaggerating either. She didn't go to sleep until 7:30 AM this morning. Which means I didn't go to sleep until then either. Actually that's not true. My sweet husband got up from 2:30 AM to 4:30 AM so I could grab a nap. Which isn't easy for him because he has to get up and go to work at 6:00 ish. Thank you sweetheart! Anyway, Audrey let me sleep for 4 hours this morning, but now her feeding schedule is off with me. Oh well, that is what supplemental formula is for my friends! So here I am barely functioning and she is sleeping peacefully. We aren't sure exactly what the problem is, but I think it has to do with the fact that she hasn't had a good "numero 2" in several days. I called the doctor and am waiting to hear back from them. It's also possible that she just had a bad night. I hope she doesn't get her days and nights confused now she was doing so good!

Anyway on to the pictures!

What is she thinking about???

One Month!

I can't believe it has been one month already. Actually longer because I haven't been so great about blogging. Oops! Anyway, this past month has been the most wonderful and exhausting month of my entire life! She is changing so much. We have been really blessed with a great baby. She has her moments, don't get me wrong! For the most part though she is great! Sometimes she can even sleep 4-6 hours at night. No we don't put rice cereal in her bottles to keep her full. She just sleeps on her own and no amount of prodding will wake her. She gets that from me! I wish I had more pictures. I do, but they are still on the camera. I need to go because Audrey is bored and bored equals tears and loud squalls!

What tomorrow would have brought...

Some of you know that I developed gestational diabetes during my pregnancy with Audrey. Basically what that meant was I would need to induce early to avoid having a 10 lb baby. My original due date was August 14th. My induction date was August 5th. That's right, tomorrow was Audrey's planned birthday. As I sat holding Audrey today and staring at her sweet face it hit me all of sudden that I was supposed to be preparing to go in the hospital tonight to be induced and deliver her tomorrow. Followed shortly by that realization was the realization that 1 week ago today we brought Audrey home from the hospital. They actually let us leave with a baby. (Side note: I wonder how many nurses look at a couple and think... Oh, they are NOT ready!) I consider B and I to be responsible people who are capable of raising another human being, a helpless one at that. Still, it was strange to load her up in the car seat and drive off.

Anyway, back to the purpose of this post. So here I am looking at her and just being overwhelmed at how she came earlier then we all expected. I have to say that it was definitely God's plan. Everything happened so quick that didn't have time to be scared or nervous about what MIGHT happen (insert possibly go wrong). I went in Thursday, July 24th for a scheduled doctor visit to see how things were going and left there and went straight to Labor and Delivery to be monitored. After a few hours of being monitored my doctor came in that evening and said that due to my blood pressure we were going to go ahead and try to induce. I was shocked. There was so much left to do at the house and at work. When would I have time to get it done with a new baby? Thankfully my boss at work is great and understood that things happen out of our control and B's mom and my mom worked on the house for me. As for the nursery, I'll complete that in a few weeks. It still needs a few items for the decor.

So we wait all night Thursday and most of Friday for the drugs to kick n to send my body into labor and nothing. The only thing that rose was my blood pressure, which led my doctor to the c-section route. Again, everything happened so fast I didn't have time to be disappointed that I had to have a c-section. I didn't want one, but I trusted my doctor and within 1 hour of making the decision to move forward with a c-section, Audrey was here. God's plan was different then mine, but I realize that I would have been a mess this past weekend trying to prepare for everything and a wreck tonight getting ready for tomorrow. I am so blessed (B too) that God delivered us a healthy baby girl and I pray that he guides B and I to raise her to live by his word. I also praise him for opening my heart to his new plan for me and B going forward. Every time I look at Audrey, I see his love, grace and mercy.

I know this was a long post, but here is the first picture of our new family! Enjoy (more to come soon!).

Audrey meets the grandparents!

I really thought I would have more time to post! I'll start out slow and see where things go from there. We have plenty of pictures so everybody can see Audrey often. Well, as often as I post anyway! These are pictures of Audrey meeting B and I's parents. My brother and one of B's brothers (and wife) was there as well. Enjoy the pictures.

Just a super cute picture of Audrey.
I fluffed up the bow on her hat that the hospital gave us.
She hates pacifiers right now, but I did manage to snap a quick picture with one.
